Physical Description:
When covering her host's body completely, Amethyst resembles her namesake as a shiny purple membrane over a taut, obviously female exterior. Essentially, she herself has no hair, but rather long wisps and tendrils of membrane that cascade over her shoulders and down her back.
Her legs and arms are slightly disproportionate to the rest of her body to allow for better agility and scaling over almost any surface. On the ends of her hands and feet are razor-sharp talons that compliment her long needle-sharp fangs.
Brief History:
With Amethyst, not much is publicly known. She is not only a member of the symbiote race -- she is their Queen Mother, the original source from which all other symbiote life began. Once every twenty years, she enters a cycle in which she spawns another offspring similar to herself. Her offspring, in turn, are able to asexually spawn their own offspring when they come of age.
Thus her kind flourished for centuries on their planet until it was brutally shatterd into fragments for usage on "Battleworld" for the Secret Wars. A planet made of the fragments of other planets, Battleworld's creation ended the planet of the symbiotes for good. Cast out into space and seperated from her brood, Amethyst went into hibernation aboard the fragment of her planet that she still remained on. Unaffected by the harsh cold of space, Amethyst slept for what seemed like centuries until the fragment ended up crash-landing on Earth.
Weak from extended isolation and wounded from the fiery entry into Earth's atmosphere, Amethyst sought immediate shelter from a potentially hostile place. Being a creature of innate sensitivity, however, Amethyst quickly picked up on a phenominal disturbance radiating from a specific place in the city. Intrigued, Amethyst followed the "signal" to the lab and home of Dr. Octavius and his wife, Rosalie; both of whom were engaged in the premiere of his greatest achievement, a fusion reactor capable of supplying mankind with limitless power.
But due to miscalculations, the reactor went unstable and the magnetic fields began ripping the apartment apart. During the incident, Rosalie Octavius was severely injured by flying glass and Amethyst found herself with a potential host; albeit a dying one. Afterwards, as Rosalie's body was taken away, Amethyst bonded herself to Rosalie, who still had a small ounce of life left within her broken frame. The Queen resided patiently within Rosalie whom to all others, even her own family, to be dead.
When Amethyst had gained enough strength, she and Rosalie forcibly left the hospital where Rosalie was being kept. Infuriated, Rosalie's family blamed the one man whom could possibly have the reasons and gall to steal her corpse: her husband, Dr. Otto Octavius, now known as "Doc Ock." They never suspected that somewhere within the city dwelled Amethyst with their beloved daughter, steadily breathing a new life into her for her own purposes.
When word got to Ock about his wife's "corpse" being stolen and he blamed, he flew into a rage and personally went to the hospital and demanded answers. On the prowl for food, Amethyst caught sight of Ock and followed him to the hospital where they fought. They were interrupted by Spider-Man and Amethyst withdrew from the conflict to feed proper. After she had gained her strength, Amethyst sought out Venom and Carnage, whose symbiotes were already well-aware of her arrival. Meanwhile, Doc Ock had also been searching out Venom in order to acquire information on the mysterious new symbiote. In the subway tunnels underneath New York, Amethyst fought first Venom, then Doc Ock and revealed to him who exactly her host was. Venom took the opportunity to flee when Spider-Man and Morbius entered the fray. Outnumbered and outpowered, Amethyst retreated while Morbius managed to collect a sample of the symbiote for testing.
Amethyst built her nest in Venom's now-abandoned lair, but knew that she could not sustain her host as her host could sustain her, so she awoke a now-healed Rosalie in order to have her unwittingly prepare herself for the symbiote's breeding cycle. Confused and alone, Rosie finally made her way out of the sewers and ran into Peter Parker, who was out with his Aunt May at a resturant. Unfortunately, just as Morbius phoned Peter to tell him of his latest discoveries, Aunt May's psychotic obsession with Ock caused her to lash out at Rosie, whose symbiote in turn fought back. Horrified at what was happening, Rosie panicked and fled.
It was then that Rosie finally saw her husband again, who had been scouring the city for days searching for her. Husband and wife embraced, much to the violent chagrin of the symbiote and tentacles. Their reunion was interrupted, however, not by either of them but by a new threat: Sinister's Nasty Boys. Begrudgingly, Amethyst teamed up with Ock against the Nasty Boys but both were defeated when Radiant and Silhouette, easily Sinister's best agents, entered the fray and dispatched them to Sinister's lab hidden underneath Lady Liberty.
Spider-Man and Morbius teamed up yet again to rescue the Octavius couple, but Sinister had already begun implementing measures for Amethyst to breed him a whole plethora of symbiotes for his testing purposes. Enraged and grieved that her brood was once more being stripped from her, Amethyst lashed out as best she could, but was helpless due to her exhaustion and Sinister's machinations. Her time came, however, when Spider-Man deactivated the cage she was trapped in during the conflict with Sinister. Amethyst viciously attacked, but Sinister, always one step ahead, fled the lab with the dozen symbiotes he had procured from her. Ravaged by the fact that she was unable to do anything about it, Amethyst receded to within her host to brood while Rosie attended to her husband, who had fallen ill after the initial battle.

Powers and Abilities:
Important Relationships: None
Personality:
Carries herself with a certain refinement she deems fit for her status in the symbiote race, but is unsympathetic towards males of any species, even her own. Views that since females are the life-givers that they should be the ones to rule the males, and that she and her symbiote race should rule over them all. Among younglings, however, her view becomes a bit more matronly, having suffered the trauma of losing her entire brood in one fell swoop. Though this attitude change may be the result of her current host's persona imprinting onto her own.
However, her goal first and foremost is the repropagation of the symbiote species -- no matter what the cost.
